The Shoe on the Tree Theatre was invited to present the performance Malamate Loom and Ivory Comb , as part of the Exhibition on the Heritage of Weaving Art, organized by the University of the Mountains from November 1 to 17, 2012, at the Basilica of Saint Mark in Heraklion, Crete.
At the same time, the Theatre of the Shoe on the Tree aspires to captivate young and old alike with the charm of weaving through Maria Papalexi’s fairy tale “The Malamate Loom and the Ivory Comb .”
Once upon a time, a little girl was born, beautiful and graceful. On the third night after her birth, when everyone in the house was asleep, the three Fates quietly entered the baby’s room. They stood above her cradle and began to recite her written words…
…with ancient Greek myths and folk tales as a warp…
…with traditional loom songs, lullabies and play songs woven into the fabric…
…the Shoe Theater weaves on stage the story of Rinio, a young weaver…
Children play, have fun and learn about the art of weaving in an original way!
