Flax Ceremony, June 21, Summer Solstice 2023

Flax, like a primordial girdle, tightens the ancient civilizations and connects the past with the present as a vein.
Kingdom, religion, magic, medicine, naval art, military life, agriculture, nutrition, economy, it is omnipresent.
Since the Bronze Age, it has been cultivated in Crete and is mentioned in the accounting books of Linear B, only by specialized female workers and weavers.
Homer and the Holy Bible, but also other authors make reference to it, to Linos the most useful.
All of them compose the landscape in which it can be highlighted.
Its cultivation in our days is a high dare that through the University of the Mountains and the Penelope Gandhi Mission, we have the uniqueness of its reappearance in Crete, from Zakros to Gramvousa, with the power of God, of nature.
A Y, its ideogram, can only mean something supreme, healthy and wonderful for us!
