The work of the Penelope Gandhi Mission – the Sacred Art of Weaving in Crete, was honored by the United Nations – FAO – Mountain Partnership, ( https://www.fao.org/mountain-partnership/en/ ) in the Organization’s annual report, with its mention as one of the 65 most important actions taking place at a global level.
This honor concerns Weaving and Thread-meaning of Crete and Greece, the protection, the rescue of ways of life, the preservation of local cultures and the harmonious-non-violent development of mountainous areas.
Since mid-2010, the Mountain University has been a member of the United Nations – FAO – Mountain Partnership. ( https://www.fao.org/mountain-partnership/en/ ) .
The Mountain Partnership is a voluntary alliance of governments and organizations from around the world, committed to working together, with the common goal of achieving sustainable mountain development, preserving local cultures and improving the quality of life in mountain areas.
