The University of the Mountains in the Municipality of Mylopotamos, Rethymno

At the University of the Mountains, a member of the United Nations – Mountain Partnership-Food and Agriculture Organization, we are taught by nature and the people of the Mountains, a peaceful and courageous way of life, always in harmony with creation.
Scientists from the University of Crete, together with scientists and volunteers from the Hellenic Mediterranean University, the Foundation for Technology and Research and the Regional Directorate of Education of Crete, will visit the villages of Apladiana, Chonos, Agridia and Aemonas of the Municipality of Mylopotamos, Rethymno, on Friday, October 4, 2024, with the following activities:

-Peer-tutoring of students at the Apladiana Primary School

-Medical examinations by medical professors with their teams, in the villages of Apladiana, Aemonas, Agridia and Chonos, to vulnerable groups of the local population,

-Café of the Mountains in the village of Aemonas, where issues related to the place and the problems it faces will be discussed.
A detailed discussion will be held regarding local production, livestock farming, tourism, self-sufficiency and the production-creation of yarns for the sacred art of Cretan Weaving.
